Stuff I'm reading lately

I read some blogs casually, and Dooce is one of them. I can't remember how I stumbled across it, but I arrived at about the same time as the author's baby, Marlo. Since then I have been fascinated to read her accounts of being a new mum and see the gorgeous baby pics. It turns out, that the writer of Dooce is Heather B. Armstrong, who is on Forbes top 30 most influential women in media list, and publisher of "It Sucked and Then I Cried: How I Had a Baby, a Breakdown, and a Much Needed Margarita".

Most intriguiging to me is the recent posts on Heather's labour story. If you're interested in how she changed her mind from (in  her words) "EPIDURAL ON THE ROCKS, PLEASE!" to pursuing a natural birth, read Labour Story Pt 1 (part 2 still to come). I'm now considering buying the two books she recommends and/or watching the video to add to my own musings about how birth will work out for me and Pebble.

Over the last month I've been thinking generally that birth will be whatever it will be. I would like to try and do it naturally, but know I'm not very good with pain, and if my health, or the baby's heath, is in danger, or I just can't cope, I'll definitely pursue whatever goods they doc has on offer. But maybe I will change my mind? It can't hurt to be well read on the subject.

For refreshing, funny, and real reading, and gorgeous photography of two kids and a dog, visit Dooce.
