And, that’s a wrap

Pebble loves to be swaddled….. I think. Recently she’s been grunting and fighting her wrap in the early hours of the morning, and I started to question whether I was doing the right thing by wrapping her. But, ridiculously, I’ve been too scared NOT to wrap her. I worry that she won’t sleep.
So, after being inspired yet again by this lovely lady, I decided to give it a go. After all, what’s the worst that could happen? The result……..?

The story doesn’t end here, however. I tried again at the next nap, but no way was that bubba going to sleep. So, I wrapped her and – BOOM - instant sleep!
I will keep experimenting with wrapping and not wrapping.
If you’ve had experience with baby wrapping, how long did you do it for? And how did you transition to no wrap?

  1. Flynn is 3 months and we're still wrapping for most sleeps. A few days where its been super hot he's flaked it in just his nappy and singlet but most of the time its wrapped, snuggled, and off to bed!

  2. my little ones decided to hate being fully wrapped as soon as we got them home at about 4-5 weeks old. The problem was they still had the moro reflex and would wake themselves up! So I gradually changed things by wrapping them with one arm out, then both arms out, then a half wrap, and then into a sleeping bag. If they were over-tired or very tired I go back to wrapping them up really tight and cuddling them to calm them down, and then loosen the wrap to let an arm or two out when I put them down in their cots. I stopped wrapping entirely at about 6 or 7 weeks. They still sleep with their arms above their heads! Isn't it the most adorable thing. In the last couple of weeks they have both started covering their face with their wraps / muslin to go to sleep. It freaked me out at first, now I realise they like it to make them feel all snuggly, so I just keep a close eye on them and move it out of the way once they're asleep.
Charlotte is GORGEOUS! and you're doing a wonderful job.

  3. My three were all wrapped and also slept in an Amby Baby Hammock, so the wrapping continued for AGES.......but the arms came out at around 5 or 6 months old.....

  4. Hahah, I feel like a loser saying this, but my twins are 14 months old and we still wrap them (we started to stress about it at the 7 mth mark but decided to go with the flow). Well, I guess we don't really 'wrap' them like you would wrap a tiny baby but we do use the jumbo sized wraps and tuck them into bed like that. They like it!

  5. Awwwww!!! She's beautiful!

My 3 were also all wrapped - my hubby did the "mega wrap" - so very tight! Sometimes we'd use 2 wraps. They weaned themselves off around 6-8 months old.
