Two minute hair style

Shout out to Hair Romance which I stumbled upon via Styling You….. I’m loving these little pieces of styling heaven!* They have helped me feel less like a frumpy mama and more like…. me! The old me, that used to do more than finger comb her hair or shove it in a pony tail. Who used to choose an outfit and use accessories, and not just throw on the same old tired trackies. Who used to actually look in the mirror before leaving the house! The old faithful trackies are still getting plenty of use, but I find myself putting in a little more effort when we go somewhere other than the supermarket (imagine that!).

I found this cute two minute hair style at Hair Romance and decided to give it a shot. It was SO easy! I started with barely-damp, scrunch dried, wavy hair when I styled mine, which gave it a messier look that I love. I think the final ‘do looks more defined on blonde hair, but I loved it on my darker locks too (p.s. it’s super tricky to take a photo of the back of your own head!).

It’s date night tonight – I think our second night out alone this year! I’m looking forward to getting pretty and spending time with hubby.

First world problems

I'm sitting at the hairdressers trying to keep up my nerve. I'm going for the chop. It's just hair, right? You only live once (god, how dramatic to say that in reference to hair!). I've got this pic of Salma to show the stylist. Hopefully she doesn't laugh at me. I'll share the results - be what they may - when my mane is in pieces on the floor...

Point + Shoot

Paul isn’t really into photos. He never says “get the camera, take a photo of this!”.
Except this weekend. This weekend he saw me looking like this and just had to take a photo.

You know all about my hair issues. In an effort to stop the grease I bought myself some dry shampoo. This is me making good use of it (you do brush it out after a couple of minutes).
This is me in total weekend glamour mode. Laundry. Greasy hair. Daggy jumper (trackies, socks and slippers too). No make up. Beloved dust buster in the background.

Hair envy

Right now I have bad post-natal hair issues.

Greasy roots after one day (or less).

Dry, brittle, snap-off ends.

Falling out in chunks
(I literally do my hair with the dust buster next to me. Literally).

  

Bad, too-dark colour.

Worn in a scraggly pony tail every. day.

Worn loose, it is the ultimate baby toy
(along with pretty earrings and dangly necklaces).

I am contemplating The Big Chop.

 But for now, I can dream about gorgeous, flowing, effortless hair.

The Dark Side

So, I say to the hair dresser, who I’m trialling in the hope of saving a few $….. “just a shade darker than my natural colour, please”.

I started to feel a little anxious, seeing the black colour painted on my head.

The result?

About six shades darker than what I was expecting. That said, I don’t mind it. And it will fade.
