Until recently, I was a macaroon virgin.
When I was a kid a macaroon was one of these little babies:
Apparently, though, there is a whole world of these biscuit-cookie-meringue goodies in French cookery. I can’t seem to go anywhere on the interwebs without seeing macaroons of a different kind.
But until this weekend I had no idea what to expect when eating one.
I’m not a big pavlova or meringue fan. So seeing these biscuits or cookies made from egg whites didn’t excite me much. Still, I was determined to try a macaroon, and my venture to the farmer’s market was the perfect opportunity.
I stared, salivating, at the chocolate tarts, custard flans, caramel pots and cheesecakes before finally, and somewhat reluctantly, choosing a decadent looking chocolate macaroon.
Oh. My.
I have found a new love. And it’s name is Macaroon.
Have you tried a French macaroon? What did you think?
See what other people have been up to with Point + Shoot!
