Point + Shoot – Macaroon deflowering

Until recently, I was a macaroon virgin.

When I was a kid a macaroon was one of these little babies:

Apparently, though, there is a whole world of these biscuit-cookie-meringue goodies in French cookery. I can’t seem to go anywhere on the interwebs without seeing macaroons of a different kind.

But until this weekend I had no idea what to expect when eating one.

I’m not a big pavlova or meringue fan. So seeing these biscuits or cookies made from egg whites didn’t excite me much. Still, I was determined to try a macaroon, and my venture to the farmer’s  market was the perfect opportunity.

I stared, salivating, at the chocolate tarts, custard flans, caramel pots and cheesecakes before finally, and somewhat reluctantly, choosing a decadent looking chocolate macaroon.

Oh. My.

I have found a new love. And it’s name is Macaroon.

Have you tried a French macaroon? What did you think?

See what other people have been up to with Point + Shoot!

  1. Oh my mouth is watering - For some reason I though it was an almond thingy and couldn't work out why it was suddenly so popular. Now I have to try one.

  2. Ooh.. that looks divine! Must try and find some soon!

  3. Definitely have to try one soon. Yummo!

  4. I have wanted to try a macaroon for a VERY long time, and you've just made my desire a heck of a lot stronger! x

  5. I ahve never had one either, mmmmmm!

Thanks for dropping by!
